Inspired by the 2-days of almost non-stop GTA4 action, I filled out this video game questionnaire [taken from Reyyy's LJ]:

1) What was your FIRST video game console?
-Atari

2) Name a few games you played on said console.
-Pac Man, Pitfall [?], then the thing promptly broke on us.

3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
-Two

4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
-YES! Still am. My favorite is a toss-up between Fei Long & Cammy.

5) Do you think Capcom is a FUCKING awesome company with kickass character designs?
-Of course, their Street Fighter Alpha art was a huge inspiration on me in high school.

6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
-I wouldn't say anything, but I'd wipe the shit out of it if I had to use it.

7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG?
-Final Fantasy 7

8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
-No preference these days, although I was a way bigger fan of 2D until the last year or two.

9) Are you an SNK fan?
-No

-No

10) Who wants to kick that dog's ass from Duck Hunt?
-I'm one of those gamers who always shoot at him and take pleasure in his fearfully leaping for cover.

11) Have you skipped out on important events in life because of video games?
-HELL no.

12) Do you listen to video game music?
-Yes: Katamari, Final Fantasy, etc. Do 8-bit musicians and video game bands [Minibosses, Advantage] count?

13) Have you ever cosplayed a VG character?
-No

14) Have you ever been in an arcade playing a fighting game, KICKING ASS, and then some 6 year old Asian kid comes in and OWNS YOU??
-I wish I WAS that 6 year old asian kid. I'm now the 30 year old asian guy who gets owned at fighting games.

15) Name three games you would love to see remakes of if it was done properly.
-Final Fantasy 7, the 1st Metal Gear Solid [PS1], Chrono Trigger

16) Mario or Sonic?
-Agh! This is difficult. I have an intense nostalgia for both characters. I just can't choose one! Okay FINE... uhh... Mario! Damn.

17) When a movie shows up in the theaters, let's use Spider-man as an example, are you likely to buy the GAME version?
-No

18) What is your LEAST favorite genre of video games? (ex. fighting, sports, shooters, etc.)
-Sports

19) Is there a game out there that you feel was unique and didn't get enough love?
-"Ico"... although I think it's become a cult hit through the years, and they ended up making "Shadow of the Colossus" years later.

20) Have you ever verbally abused a game because you couldn't beat one of the levels and/or bosses?
-Of course. Most notable for me is the final boss in DOA4. Cheapest Fucker Ever.

21) Do you own any VG apparel?
-No

22) What are your thoughts on the live-action Super Mario Bros movie?
-Never saw it.

23) On that note, what did you think about the live-action Street Fighter movie?
-I saw about 10 minutes of it and almost projectile vomited onto the TV screen.

24) Who's hottest out of the KOF chicks?
-Yuri Sakazaki

25) Do you say "old-school" a lot when you're having a VG conversation with others?
-Not really.

26) Have you ever lent someone a game and they returned it to you damaged?
-Not enough for me to have noticed.

-No

-Yes

-I got kinda blubbery at the end of Ico.


So... I took this past Thursday & Friday off and spent almost each minute holed up in my apartment [3+ days]. After terrible loneliness set in, I bought/re-watched Criterion's Chungking Express on Blu-Ray today and it cheered me up immensely. Also, the sun has finally made an appearance as I write this. J'EAAHHH
